Young people from Everton can learn how to cook and eat healthily without busting the budget, thanks to a free initiative funded by Sanctuary Housing.
L6 Healthy Eating project
The L6 Healthy Eating Project will be taking place at the already thriving youth club located at Liverpool 6 Community Centre, running on Thursdays between 4pm and 6pm for eight weeks during September and October.
During the workshops, project leaders will be teaching the youngsters about the price of food and how to identify value for money, as well as how to cook tasty meals with the ingredients they buy.
“A skill that will help these young people into adulthood”
Shirley Marshall, operations manager from Liverpool 6 Community Centre, said: “Knowing how to prepare and cook healthy, low-budget dishes is a skill that will help these young people into adulthood.
“They will also be able to share their knowledge with their parents, family and friends in the wider community.”
