Paignton residents looking to get involved in volunteering are invited to free training.
Vital elements in volunteer roles
Delivered by community organisation Imagine and funded by Sanctuary Housing, the training teaches participants about vital elements in volunteer roles, such as rights and responsibilities, safeguarding and risk assessments and communication skills.
A course which is almost completed in Torquay has proved so popular that further training has been organised to take place in Paignton, starting later in the spring.
“Opportunity to meet new people and build self-confidence”
Lorrie Layne, one of the course leaders, said: “As well as offering the training, participants get the opportunity to meet new people and build self-confidence, which are just as important when preparing for volunteering roles.”
“All of the participants have found the course really valuable”
Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Lynne Roberts, added: “The Torquay course is soon to finish and all of the participants have found it really valuable. I would urge any Torbay resident interested in getting involved in volunteering to go along to the Paignton course.”
Torbay residents who would like more information about the volunteering training in Paignton can contact Lorrie on 07771 806870.
