Telford residents looking to get in shape this autumn are being invited to join the residents of a retirement living scheme for their annual Healthy, Happy Week.
Sanctuary Housing’s Hartshorne Court, on Burton Street, Dawley, is opening its doors next Monday 7 to Friday 11 November for the free event, which is funded by Great Dawley Town Council.
The week begins with health trainers visiting the scheme to provide lifestyle screenings and potential referrals to health improvement services, if appropriate, from 9.30am to 1.30pm on Monday
The session also offers free meal vouchers for Tuesday’s event, a nutritious, well-balanced lunch at 12.30pm.
Wednesday will see participants venture out from Hartshorne Court and head to Dawley Park to work up a sweat on the park’s outdoor gym. Those taking part will receive a free meal voucher for a healthy buffet at the scheme on Thursday, starting at 12.30pm.
Thursday will also see a 2pm adult colouring class, offering visitors a way to unwind and relieve stress in a social setting, before the final event of the week: a falls prevention class at 11.30am on the Friday.
Scheme manager Vivienne Chalmers said: “Healthy, Happy Week is about promoting good health, which doesn’t just consist of physical fitness; our mental wellbeing and our diet are both equally important, and this event addresses all three elements.
“These events are suited to an older audience above the age of 55 years, but we would welcome anyone who wants to come along and join in – it’s a chance to get fit, meet new people and have a great time!”
No booking is required for events held during the Healthy, Happy Week. For more information, contact Vivienne on 01952 502877 or by email.
