A Sanctuary Housing resident from Cambridge has the digital world at her fingertips after learning new skills on a computer training course.
Jackie Capp started her lessons with very little knowledge of computers or using the internet.
But after benefitting from one-to-one training in the comfort of her own home, Jackie now has the confidence and skills to use technology in her everyday life.
The lessons covered a wide variety of topics such as how to send emails, upload photos onto a memory stick and use the internet to shop, pay bills, keep up with the news and access the Sanctuary Housing website.
Jackie said she was excited to learn new skills and that the training – delivered by We Are Digital as part of our Sanctuary Online programme – has made her feel much more confident and comfortable using a computer.
Sanctuary Online is an ongoing initiative offering residents free training and support to learn computer skills and get connected to the digital world. Sessions are available for adults of all ages and experience levels and are delivered both in community venues and people’s own homes.
Jackie is sharing her story as part of Get Online Week, an annual initiative led by Good Things Foundation aimed at increasing people’s confidence using computers and the internet.
