Shiregreen gardeners are being invited to show off their handiwork and win £50 worth of gardening vouchers in a popular competition.

Blooming marvellous

Opening on Friday 29 June, Sanctuary Housing’s annual Shiregreen Garden Competition will see residents submit photos in two categories - best individual garden and best hanging basket – with a voucher on offer in each.

We can take photos for you

To encourage a bumper crop of entries, people without access to a camera or computer can contact Sanctuary’s neighbourhood team in Shiregreen who will come out to take photos.

“Celebrate the commitment of local people”

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Melanie King, said: “The gardens of Shiregreen residents go a long way towards helping to make the area look so attractive, and we want to celebrate the commitment local people show in looking after their homes.

“I hope the fact our team can go out to people’s homes to take the pictures for them will encourage even more entries.”

How to enter

Entrants are asked to send up to four photographs showing different angles of their garden along with full contact details and the relevant category to neighbourhoods@sanctuary-housing.co.uk or they can be dropped off at Sanctuary’s office at 36a Beck Road, Shiregreen, Sheffield, S5 0GB.

To arrange for a member of Sanctuary’s team to take photographs, contact Melanie King on 0800 131 3348 or 0300 123 3511 from a mobile.

Entries will be judged by the Shiregreen Community Committee, who will visit all gardens, and must be received by Monday 30 July. Winners will be notified by Friday 7 September.

This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
