A new website aimed at bringing together Hackney residents and keeping the community up to date with the latest news has officially been launched.

Funded by Sanctuary Housing, the online resource, e-Hackney.co.uk, is now live for the community to find out what is happening in their local area, including a whole host of events and activities.

The website offers visitors the chance to add their business or community group to a comprehensive listing and share their thoughts, photos and memories of things taking place in the area.

Covering the south and east of the borough, the content can be filtered down to three local estates: Gascoyne, Kingsmead and Morningside, for a more directly tailored experience.

A What’s On section offers a calendar of events full of activities for the summer and beyond, while useful information about resources in each of the three areas, such as the opening times and hire fees of their respective community centres, is also available.

Sophie Lejeune-Peggie, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: “The launch of eHackney is key to our objective to support the development of a successful and sustainable community in Hackney.

“We’d encourage anyone in the area who wants to share their experiences, activities or business to check out the website and get in touch, we are always on the lookout for more community journalists!.”

This project was funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
