Residents in Shiregreen were given the opportunity to downsize or upsize their home at a Home Swap event, hosted by Shiregreen Community Homes.
The housing provider, which is part of Sanctuary Group, wanted to actively respond to welfare reform and reassure their residents that another home could be just around the corner.
Single adults, couples and families all joined the event, and 14 households completed and submitted their interest forms for a mutual exchange on the same day.
Attendees learnt about exchanges, the support and incentives available and were able to express their interest in a mutual exchange. The information given at the event will be available in the local housing office reception on Beck Road, to be viewed by other residents interested in a swap.
Greg Rippon, area manager for Sanctuary Housing, said: “The event was a great success. It was fantastic to see our residents asking questions and receiving advice about mutual exchanges.
“We are hoping to now see a rise in the number of mutual exchanges within Shiregreen thanks to the residents that registered an interest on the day as well as a publically accessible log of people looking to swap.”
People who were unable to attend the home swap event can still register their interest and receive further information, by contacting Shiregreen Community Homes on 0800 131 3348.
