How the great outdoors can help Telford get in shape – for free

19 July 2016

Older residents in Telford are being invited to take part in some free personal training sessions to help them get in shape.

Staff at Sanctuary’s Hartshorne Court retirement living scheme are urging local people over the age of 50 to join residents in the fitness sessions, which are being funded by Telford & Wrekin Council.

Being held every Wednesday from 2pm, the training is taking place at Dawley Park’s outdoor gym, the community facility launched following partnership work between Sanctuary, Friends of Dawley Park and the council.

Scheme manager Viv Chalmers said: “This is a great opportunity for people to pick up an exercise plan that’s suited to them. It doesn’t matter if you’re a regular visitor to the gym, or if you’ve never been in your life, the trainer will be able to draw up a routine that’s suitable to you.

“We’re very grateful to Telford & Wrekin Council for funding these sessions, which will make a real difference to the physical and mental wellbeing of both our residents and all who visit Dawley Park Gym.”
