A women’s circle has launched in Paignton offering inspirational activities and workshops, following the success of a group in Torquay.
Paignton Women’s Circle
Similar to the thriving group in Torquay, the Paignton circle will include activities from yoga and meditation to journal writing, art and holistic therapy.
There are also group discussions, debates and opportunities to learn new skills and boost employability, all in a friendly and welcoming environment. The Torquay group has already seen various accomplishments including two members securing employment and further participants being accepted to a security training programme.
Step by Step
Both women’s circles are part of the Step by Step project, led by Imagine CIC and funded by Sanctuary, to help residents in the Torbay area access training and opportunities to bring them closer to, or into, work.
“Incredibly inspirational women”
Sally Renshaw, project leader for the circles, said: “The achievements of the two circles are theirs alone. As the facilitator, I am just there to guide them through their journeys.
“There are some incredibly inspirational women involved who are building bonds and forming lasting friendships, which is so important in helping to mentally prepare to move forward in life.”
“Encouraging them to be the best they can be”
Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: “The focus of both circles is to empower the women taking part, helping to increase their self-confidence and encouraging them to be the best they can be.
“I would urge all local women to get involved, everyone is welcome to come along and receive support at either group.”

This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
