Job fair proves a huge hit in Shiregreen

Shiregreen annual careers fair

An annual careers fair proved to be just the job for Shiregreen residents, as more than 150 people found out about local employment and training opportunities.

Organised and funded by Sanctuary Housing and community regeneration charity SOAR, those who attended the event were able to discuss jobs and training on offer with a range of Sheffield organisations.

The fair saw Tesco, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and the British Heart Foundation come along to promote live job vacancies and give out information on apprenticeships and other opportunities.

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Melanie King, said: “Helping our residents to access opportunities that can lead to careers and training is a major objective of ours, and this annual event that we organise with SOAR really helps us to achieve that.

“We’re really pleased with the number of people who came along to the event.”

Richard Flintham from SOAR added: “This year’s fair went really well and I look forward to hearing about the success stories.”

SOAR is part-funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
