People in Market Drayton are invited to join residents of a local housing scheme for older people for a big birthday celebration.

Sanctuary’s Corbett Court, in Manor Gardens, will be opening its doors for a Family Tea Party to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The celebrations are taking place from 12pm until 4pm on Friday 1 September and entry is free and open to anyone from the local community who would like to attend.

The residents’ group at Corbett Court has been working with various other local organisations to organise the celebrations, which will feature plenty of mouth-watering refreshments, including a barbecue and strawberry teas.

There will also be plenty of activities for the whole community to enjoy, including face-painting, hook-a-duck, a raffle and stalls selling toys, cakes, bric-a-brac and more besides.

The tea party will be raising money for local children’s charity, Hope House.

Lynn Fenlon, Sanctuary’s scheme manager, said: “We aim to support our residents in living happy, healthy and fulfilled lives and we’re delighted to be supporting the birthday celebrations at Corbett Court.

“Community-led projects such as this help with the development of successful and sustainable communities and we hope to welcome lots of visitors to help us mark this very special occasion.

“We’d also like to say a big thank you to all the local businesses who have donated prizes for our raffle.”

This project was part-funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, which is currently accepting applications from community projects benefiting Sanctuary residents and their communities. To find out more about the fund, please call 01905 335411, email community@sanctuary-housing.co.uk .
