Making fitness fun with Blacon sports day

Young people in Blacon can have fun while getting fit and active

Young people in Blacon can have fun while getting fit and active with a free sports day taking place during the school half-term holidays.

With support from Avenue Services, Rage Fitness Company is hosting the event at Blacon Adventure Playground, in Kipling Road, to encourage children to exercise regularly and help them build agility, strength and co-ordination.

The project is open to children aged eight to 14, who must be available to take part in both a training day on Tuesday 30 October and the sports day itself on Friday 2 November.

The training day, running from 11am-3pm, will include a variety of sessions to build skills as well as a workshop on nutrition and healthy eating and a free lunch.

The sports day will run from 12 noon until around 3.15pm, with children taking part in a warm up before a series of competitions and team games, concluding with a prize-giving ceremony.

Craig Brown, of Rage Fitness Company, said: “We have had a fantastic response to our adult classes in Blacon and we are keen to support our community even more by helping the younger generation get fit and active.

“Our Mini Rage Sports Day will be a great opportunity to show young people the benefits of exercise and just how much fun taking part can be.”

Rage Fitness Company delivers a range of classes at Blacon Adventure Playground, including yoga, circuit training and group fitness.

It also offers one-to-one coaching, personal development and mentoring, as well as rehabilitation support, education programmes and drug and alcohol prevention initiatives.

Chris Leicester, neighbourhood partnerships manager at Avenue Services, commented: “Keeping active and taking part in exercise is important for people of all ages and Rage Fitness Company is delivering an extremely valuable and popular service to residents in Blacon.

“The sports day should be a fantastic event and we hope as many young people as possible will take part and having fun getting fit.”

Parents and guardians can sign their children up for the sports day by emailing info@ragefitnesscompany.com to request a registration form.

A deposit of £5 per child is required, returnable upon completion of both the training day and sports day.

Avenue Services, which is a not-for-profit organisation, is a joint venture between Sanctuary Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council.
