A new fortnightly job club designed to assist Shiregreen residents in finding employment and training has opened its doors to the community for the first time.
With funding from Sanctuary Housing, SOAR, a community regeneration charity based in Sheffield, is running a 26-week job club at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre to help job seekers take a step towards employment or training.
New Shiregreen job club
The job club will offer residents help to update their CV’s, apply for jobs, support in searching for employment and training opportunities, careers advice and providing signposting to other organisations that may be able to help them find work.
Running every other Wednesday, the next session will take place on 14 June between 12pm – 2pm, with the first hour held as a drop in session and the second by appointment only.
“Access training and employment opportunities”
Melanie King, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager for Shiregreen, said: “Supporting our residents to develop their skills and access training and employment opportunities is a priority for Sanctuary and our partnership with SOAR will allow us to help them take that all important step.
“The job club will not only give residents essential careers advice and support but will also be a great opportunity for them to be introduced to other organisations and services available to them so we urge anyone looking for work to come along.”
“Excited to offer employment”
Guy Weston, SOAR health services manager, added: “This is a great opportunity for SOAR and builds upon existing work currently being delivered to Shiregreen residents.
“We are very excited to offer employment, health and volunteering support in a single accessible location.”
