A new women’s group offering a range of activities and workshops to help participants inspire and empower each other has launched in Torquay.

With support from Sanctuary Housing and charity Shekinah, community organisation Imagine CIC is now running the Women’s Circle group every Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm.

Sessions take place at Shekinah, in Union Street, and include a wide range of activities from yoga and meditation to journaling, art and holistic therapy.

There are also group discussions, debates and opportunities to learn new skills and boost employability, all in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Women’s Circle is part of the Step by Step project, led by Imagine CIC and backed by Sanctuary, to help residents in the Torbay area access training and opportunities to bring them closer to, or into, work.

Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: “We are committed to investing in local people to help them access opportunities and achieve their ambitions.

“We are delighted to be supporting Women’s Circle and its aims to inspire and empower residents in Torbay.”

Julie Bose, of Imagine CIC, added: “Step by Step is about offering a wide range of engagement opportunities, from leisure groups and more formal workshops to one-to-one support.

“Women’s Circle builds on that, offering a range of activities to encourage participants and signpost them to further progression. We know from experience that, when women support each other, incredible things happen.”

This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
