Nominate a local champion for Midsummer Magic awards

23 March 2015

Sanctuary Housing is searching for local champions who have made a real difference to the community, as the housing association opens nominations for the first Cherwell awards.

The Sanctuary in Cherwell Community Awards will celebrate the achievements of friends, neighbours, volunteers, or community groups that have made a positive difference to the community or neighbourhood.

What are the nomination categories?

Residents can nominate community champions in eight categories; Arts, Volunteer; Sports Personality of the Year; Partnership; Lifetime Community Achievement; Young Achievers; Most Innovative Community Project and Green Fingers.

How can I nominate?

Nominations can be made by emailing Cherwell.communityawards@sanctuary-housing.co.uk. Residents can also pick up a nomination form from Bodicote House and follow on Twitter using #CherwellAwards.

A Midsummer Magic awards ceremony is planned for June 2015 and nominees will be notified after the closing date of 10 April.

Any Sanctuary resident can be nominated, as can local groups or individuals working with Sanctuary.

Sanctuary in Cherwell Neighbourhood team

Sanctuary Housing’s Neighbourhoods team is proud to work closely with partners and individuals in the area who invest time and effort in making their communities a great place to live.

Graham Nolan, Sanctuary’s head of neighbourhood partnerships, said: “Volunteers play a huge role in communities and this event is a great opportunity to recognise not only our partners, but also the contribution of their volunteers.

“This year we know many volunteers have delivered projects which we have supported and which would have not been as much of a success without their dedication.”
