Sanctuary Housing is searching for local champions that have made a real difference to the community, as the housing association open nominations for the second Hackney awards.

The Sanctuary in Hackney Community Awards will celebrate the achievements of friends, neighbours, volunteers, or community groups that have made a positive difference to the community or neighbourhood.

How can you nominate?

Residents can nominate community champions in six categories; Good Neighbour; Young Volunteer; Contribution to Sport; Green Hero; Partnership; and Community Spirit.

Nominations can be made by visiting www.sanctuary-housing.co.uk/local-to-you/london-and-south-east or emailing hackney.awards@sanctuary-housing.co.uk.

Residents can also pick up a nomination form from a local Sanctuary office and follow on Twitter using #SanctuaryHackneyAwards.

An awards ceremony is planned for March 2015 and nominees will be notified after the closing date of 26 January.

Jo Revett, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: "Our first awards last year were very successful and we received a good variety of nominations.

"If there is an individual or group that need recognition for their hard work and dedication in Hackney, we would encourage residents to nominate them."

Any Sanctuary resident can be nominated, as can local groups or individuals working with Sanctuary.
