Sanctuary Housing is searching for local champions who have made a real difference in their community, as nominations for the first ever Torbay Community Star Awards are opened.

Awards ceremony launching in 2015

The awards are an opportunity for friends, neighbours, volunteers or groups to be recognised for their dedication in the neighbourhood.

The housing provider, part of Sanctuary Group, is welcoming nominations which could include a neighbour who has gone the extra mile, an individual transforming a green space or an organisation that has brought the community together.

An awards ceremony is planned for 27 March 2015 and nominees will be notified of event details after the closing date of 20 December.

Seven award categories

Residents can show their appreciation by submitting nominations in seven award categories:

  • Neighbourhood Champion
  • Lifetime Contribution to the Community
  • Green Heroes
  • Partnership
  • Community Spirit
  • Sports Personality of the Year
  • Youth Champion

Alison Kenny, Sanctuary’s head of neighbourhood partnerships, said: “We look forward to seeing the range of nominations we receive, showing the diverse and dynamic talent in Torbay.”

Any resident, volunteer or community group can nominate. Email nominations to Michael Howarth, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, at michael.howarth@sanctuary-housing.co.uk. Residents can also submit a nomination form online.
