Parents and pre-schoolers come together for family workshops

Parents and pre-schoolers can learn skills that will benefit the whole family, thanks to funding from Sanctuary Housing.

Acorn Family Workshops

The weekly Acorn Family Workshops, running at the Acorn Community Centre in Torquay every Wednesday from 10am until midday, are designed to bring parents and their children together through a range of exciting free activities.

Sessions focus on different themes including arts and crafts and healthy eating, with adults also able to take part in budgeting skills training to learn how to make the most of their money.

In addition, participants can use the workshops to find out more about local training and volunteering opportunities.

“A relaxed environment”

Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: “Our hope is that these sessions will provide a relaxed environment where parents and pre-schoolers can enjoy spending time together, with the added benefit that the adults can receive support around a range of issues.

“The first few workshops have been a real success and I look forward to seeing even more residents attend over the next few months.”

This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
