Social landlord Sanctuary Housing held a successful consultation event with residents on Friday (1 March) on a proposed multi-million pound investment in Plymouth’s Barne Barton estate.

More than 60 residents came to the drop-in event at Tamar View Community Centre where they spoke with staff about plans to purchase and regenerate the estate or refurbish the existing properties to a modern standard.

Residents were able to see visuals of what the estate could look like following either of the two investment options and understand more about Sanctuary’s commitment to investing in the homes.

The housing association is consulting with residents in maisonettes from 10 blocks of flats on Talbot Gardens, Savage Road and Roope Close.

The current owners of the site are Aviva and Quintain.

Following the event, Sanctuary will now collate the feedback from residents and report back on their views in early April.

Daren Nowlan, Operations Director, Sanctuary Housing, said: “We would like to thank all residents who have provided their feedback and attended the consultation.

“We had some really engaging conversations with residents about the investment they want to see from Sanctuary and how we can work closely with them through this process.

“Their views will help us shape the future of Barne Barton and I would encourage anyone who couldn’t attend the consultation to provide their feedback as we are keen to hear from as many residents as possible.”

Residents can still get involved and provide their views throughout March by calling 0800 917 0477 from a landline, 0300 123 3590 from a mobile, or emailing BarneBarton@sanctuary-housing.co.uk
