Residents invited to get crafty at café

19 July 2016

Torbay residents can get crafty over a cuppa at a friendly community café supported by Sanctuary Housing.

Crafty Cuppa Café

Sanctuary’s funding is helping the Crafty Cuppa Café at Great Parks Community Centre in Paignton go from strength-to-strength, with local residents invited to go along every Friday 11am-1pm for some company and a chat while working on craft projects.

Craft projects

With sessions costing just £1, attendees can bring along their own current projects or are welcome to join in with the weekly craft session.

Table top sales

Sanctuary’s funding and support has already seen a range of events take place, including regular table top sales where locals can sell their homemade crafts and other donated household items.

“A valuable community-led project”

Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, commented: “Crafty Cuppa is a valuable community-led project that addresses the needs of our residents and I’m delighted that we can support it. The café has an important part to play in reducing social isolation in the neighbourhood by bringing residents together in a fun and relaxed environment.”

Community builder Nina Cooper, who supports the Crafty Cuppa, said: “The Crafty Cuppa Café has been such a success and we are really proud of all the volunteers and how well they’ve done. Sanctuary’s funding has really helped us and we’ve got lots of great events planned for the coming months.”

This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
