Leading housing provider Sanctuary Group has been allocated almost £90m funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to build 2,265 affordable homes across England over the next five years.
The funding was the largest grant allocation from the HCA under its £1.28 billion Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme 2016 to 2021, to support the building of 46,534 new affordable homes.
Sanctuary and its development consortium partners will use the HCA funding, combined with the Group’s considerable investment, to deliver a range of shared ownership, rent to buy and specialist rented homes in communities across the country to meet local needs.
Development of the new homes by Sanctuary will not only provide much needed affordable housing, but will help boost local economies and create numerous jobs and training opportunities at construction sites nationwide.
Peter Martin, Sanctuary Group Director - Development, commented: "We are delighted to receive this substantial grant from the Homes and Communities Agency for the delivery of these affordable homes.
"The funding will support our wider national development plans to build 30,000 homes in England and Scotland by 2026 and help increase housing supply across the country.”
