Sanctuary staff honoured for their achievements at awards ceremony

Sanctuary Group staff have been honoured for their contribution to the organisation at an awards ceremony.

Over the past 12 months more than 700 nominations have been received for the inaugural staff awards, established to celebrate the success of employees and recognise those who go above and beyond in their job.

Eleven people were named Employee of the Year in their specific business area and all were presented with a certificate by David Bennett, Group Chief Executive.

The overall Sanctuary Group Employee of the Year award was won by Sanctuary Care’s Veronica McCleary, who is Home Manager at The Manse Residential Care Home in London.

Veronica, who is also celebrating 25 years at the home, was put forward after helping to relocate 33 residents from The Manse following a power failure in May 2016.

In extremely difficult circumstances, she provided essential support to the residents and ensured her colleagues were able to provide continuity of care by buying them clothes and toiletries and even driving them to their homes or hotels during the relocation.

Veronica said she was “overwhelmed” and in “total shock” at winning the award.

She added: “I am dedicated to the residents and staff at The Manse but this makes it even more special.

“The award is not just for myself, it’s for the team because without their support I would never have achieved what I have done. It’s amazing and I feel very appreciated.”

David Bennett, Group Chief Executive, commented: “I was delighted to present our Employee of the Year winners with their awards and Veronica with our Group Award. They have all made outstanding contributions in their work and demonstrate our values.

“Veronica is a shining example of how to provide exceptional levels of care. She delivers our mission, to provide accessible care to all who need it, with dignity, respect and, above all, kindness.”
