Sanctuary Housing staff in Torbay are helping to make sure residents from all walks of life have a very merry Christmas.
Festive feasts
Employees from the leading housing provider are supporting some delicious dinners happening on Christmas Day itself, aimed at combating loneliness over the holidays and providing a friendly place to spend the day.
The first is a festive feast from the Chelston Action Group at St Peter’s Centre, Torquay, where residents who may otherwise be on their own will be able to come together for a tasty meal.
An event at the Windmill Centre organised by Torbay Community Development Trust will see local residents join up for a ‘Bring and Cook’ meal, where attendees can take along dishes to cook, eat and share together.
Christmas donation
In addition, staff from Sanctuary’s local team are donating £200 of supermarket vouchers to Paignton Community Larder, a newly opened service that gives food parcels to local residents in urgent need.
Lynne Roberts, neighbourhood partnerships manager for Sanctuary, said: “It’s the season of goodwill and we wanted to reflect that by supporting local events and services that offer help to residents at, what can be, a difficult time of the year.”
