The annual campaign, which this year runs from 14 to 20 October, inspires organisations like Sanctuary to make sure that everyone can take part in the digital world and get more from life online.
Statistics show that 5.3 million people in the UK have never been online and there are 11.9 million people who don’t have the essential digital skills to navigate life and work.
Since April 2019 our partners, We Are Digital, have delivered Sanctuary Online training to 24 residents of all skill levels, providing them with an opportunity to learn how to use technology for the first time or expand on existing knowledge.
During the bespoke sessions, which can take place at home or in a welcoming group environment, a friendly tutor covers a variety of topics including job seeking techniques, connecting with others or managing money and benefits online.
Alison Kenny, Sanctuary’s head of partnerships, said: “Sanctuary Online aims to boost the confidence of as many of our residents as possible, in an ever-increasingly digital-driven world.”
“Our staff have encouraged residents to sign up and have enjoyed hearing positive feedback about the difference it has made.”
During Get Online Week, we will share success stories from residents whose lives have changed for the better after gaining new skills from Sanctuary Online.
