A pair of gardeners from Shiregreen have had their blooming fantastic efforts rewarded after coming top in Sanctuary Housing’s Shiregreen Garden Competition.
Richard Wilson and Kathleen Housley were each awarded first prize in the contest, for the categories of best individual garden and best hanging basket respectively.
The duo received their prizes of £50 worth of National Gardening vouchers in a presentation last week. Richard will be giving his voucher to the garden club based at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre, while Mrs Housley will be donating hers to a local pet sanctuary for a raffle prize.
“Helped to make our area look really attractive”
Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Melanie King, commented: “Along with the other entrants, and many other residents across Shiregreen, our winners have made a huge effort to enhance the look of their gardens and have helped to make our area look really attractive.
“I’d like to congratulate both of our winners on their achievements.”
This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
