Shiregreen residents are invited to take part in a free course aimed at boosting confidence for future achievements.
Sanctuary Housing and Manor and Castle Development Trust are teaming up to deliver the STEPS to Excellence programme, where advisors will work with each participant on a personal development plan.
Running for six weeks from Monday 6 November at Shiregreen Community Centre, the workshops will focus on a range of skills vital for future success, including building confidence, self-motivation and goal-setting.
Melanie King, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager for Shiregreen, said: “Self-confidence can be a huge barrier for many people, so our aim with STEPS to Excellence is to make sure the participants know how to unlock their own potential.
“Future goals can be anything that the attendees would like to achieve, from improving mental health to starting a new training programme.”
Those residents who are interested in moving on to employment can take part in the Employment Progression Programme (EPP), a follow-on course that looks more in depth at improving workplace skills.
The people taking part in EPP will look to identify opportunities for new activities and projects in their community, before being signposted into further training and potentially paid employment.
The STEPS to Excellence programme will run from 9.30am to 1pm and anybody interested in booking a place or finding out more can call Diane on 0114 278 9999.
This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
