Residents were kept entertained with an appearance by Father Christmas on his sleigh and carol singing by pupils from all the schools in Blacon. There was also a lights switch on by the shops at Western Avenue.

The large crowd was joined by Sanctuary’s Head of Operations for Chester and North West Christa Ripley and Head of Avenue Services Paul Knight.

Paul Knight said: “Avenue Services is delighted to support this community event alongside its partners, which is the second year we’ve had a tree in Blacon. Thanks very much to Cheshire West and Chester Council for providing the tree this year. There was a real festive spirit in the air and we hope all residents enjoyed the entertainment and have a wonderful festive season.”
