A Paignton community centre is appealing for volunteers and showcasing its range of services to mark International Volunteer Day on 5 December.
Staff at Great Parks Community Centre (GPCC), which is supported by Sanctuary Housing, are on the look-out for new volunteers to help deliver the wide variety of clubs and activities on offer.
Volunteers already perform an integral role at GPCC, working alongside full and part-time staff in the community coffee shop, brunch club and IT suite. There are also more specialist activities on offer, including Bambino’s parent and toddler group, a job club and free functional skills sessions in English, maths and beginners’ IT.
“We take a real pride”
Jordan Pierson from GPCC said: “The work we do simply wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers. We offer a wide variety of services and as such, we need people from all walks of life to help us continue our work in the local community. We take a real pride in everything we do.”
“Volunteers make a real difference”
Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Lynne Roberts, added: “Volunteers make a real difference not only to the work of GPCC, but to most of the community projects we support around the Torbay neighbourhoods.
“International Volunteer Day has given us a fantastic opportunity to promote the activities at GPCC and celebrate the contributions that volunteers make across all of our communities.”
Anybody who would like to volunteer at GPCC, or attend any of the activities or groups, can call the centre on 01803 524903.
