Vibrant Shiregreen community hub looking for volunteers

Vibrant Shiregreen community hub looking for volunteers.

The Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre is appealing for volunteers and showcasing its range of services to mark International Volunteer Day on 5 December.

New volunteer appeal

The committee at the centre, which is supported by Sanctuary Housing, is on the look-out for new volunteers to help deliver the wide variety of clubs and activities on offer including the Shiregreen Social Café and toddler groups.

Christmas events

In the run-up to Christmas, volunteers will be getting into the festive spirit at special events including breakfast with Santa, Christmas dinner and a seasonal children’s party.

“The work we do simply wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers”

Julie Fabian, chair of Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre, said: “The work we do simply wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers. We offer a wide variety of services and as such, we need people from all walks of life to help us continue our work in the local community. We take a real pride in everything we do.”

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Melanie King, added: “Volunteers make a real difference not only to the work of the centre but to most of the projects we support around the Shiregreen neighbourhood".

“International Volunteer Day has given us a fantastic opportunity to promote the activities at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre and celebrate the contributions that volunteers make across our communities.”

Anybody who would like to volunteer at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre, or attend any of the activities or groups, can call the centre on 0114 245 9200 or email shiregreenneighbourhoodcentre@gmail.com.
