Workshop can help mothers build confidence to return to work

3 March 2017
A free workshop to help mothers in Hackney build confidence to return to work is being supported by Sanctuary Housing.

Mothers looking to boost their confidence before returning to work can attend a free eight-week workshop in Hackney.

With support from Sanctuary Housing, the course will offer advice on networking with prospective employers and how to balance careers with education, as well as an introduction to self-employment and starting up businesses.

Being run by qualified career development practitioner Fatou Gassama from Holistic Support, the Mothers Back To Work sessions will take place at Morningside Community Centre over eight Fridays from 10 March to the 12 May from 10am to 2.30pm.

Hackney Playbus will provide a crèche at the venue so participants don’t have to worry about making additional childcare arrangements.

Fatou Gassama said: “Building confidence and self-esteem can often be barriers, particularly for mothers looking to enter a working environment.

“I would encourage any mum seeking support to come along and see how this course can help them.”

Toby Moore, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, added: “This project offers a wonderful opportunity for mothers wanting to return to work to develop their skills and access training opportunities.”

This eight-week course is being funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, in addition to support from the Hackney Marsh Partnership and Hackney Learning Trust.
