Young arts-lovers from Rochford are being invited to take part in a free creative art walk to mark Love Parks Week 2016.
Exploring creative sides
Thanks to Maureen’s Gift funding award from Rochford Housing, Hayley Elizabeth Photography has organised the walk around Rochford Reservoir (PDF 174KB) where young people will be supported to produce drawings, short stories and poems expressing their thoughts about what they see. There will be prizes on offer for the most creative pieces of work.
In celebration of Love Parks Week, the walk is set to take place on Sunday 3 July and young people aged 8-13 are welcome to register to come along.
Chris Silvey, Rochford Housing’s resident involvement officer, commented: “Love Parks has given us a fantastic opportunity to encourage the young people of Rochford to get together and celebrate our town.
“I hope that local youngsters take advantage of this chance to get imaginative and win prizes for their work.”
Book a place
Places are limited on the walk so interested residents need to book a spot by calling Hayley Elizabeth on 07872 664 462.
Love Parks Week is a national event marking the value of green spaces and parks across the country. It officially takes place from 15-24 July 2016, however as this year marks its tenth anniversary, the celebration is spanning ten months from February to November.
Maureen’s Gift funding supports charities, resident groups and voluntary organisations in need of donations to help deliver community activities. It was set up in 2011 in memory of local community champion and former chairperson of the Rochford Housing Association board, Maureen Vince.
