Talbot Gardens, Barne Barton

On this page

Sanctuary is delivering a multi-million-pound regeneration of Talbot Gardens on the Barne Barton estate in St Budeaux, Plymouth.

We are delivering a multi-million pound regeneration project which is seeing 10 blocks of maisonettes replaced with a mix of high quality new housing to meet the needs of the local community.

We have made significant progress demolishing empty blocks across the estate and are currently on site preparing for construction of the first 28 new apartments.

Sanctuary previously managed the 120 homes - located on Talbot Gardens, Savage Road and Roope Close – and completed the purchase of the freehold for the site in December 2019 following overwhelming support for a site regeneration from residents. Residents and local stakeholders have been involved with the regeneration project from the beginning  and will continue to be consulted throughout the life of the project.

Proposals take shape

Resident feedback has been vital in helping shape our plans for the estate.

We had planned to hold another public consultation over the summer of 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this was unfortunately not possible. Instead, residents were invited to provide feedback on our latest plans and ask questions via post, email, or a dedicated web page with the proposals.

Residents invited to discuss proposals

We launched our exciting plans for a regenerated Barne Barton estate in February 2020.

Residents and the wider community were invited along to a consultation event where they could view a range of displays, speak with staff and provide their feedback to help shape the future of Talbot Gardens.

On 1 March 2019, Sanctuary consulted with residents about the future of 10 blocks of maisonettes on Talbot Gardens, Savage Road and Roope Close. The event, part of a month-long consultation, provided residents with the opportunity to provide feedback on two investment options for the estate – regenerating with new homes or refurbishing the existing properties.
