Applying for a home
There are a few different ways you can apply to rent a property from Sanctuary Housing Association, including:
Through your local authority
Most of our homes are let through local authorities. The easiest way to rent a home from us is to join your local authority’s housing list.
Directly from us
We hold our own waiting lists for properties in some areas of the country. You can apply to be put on one of our open waiting lists by calling 0800 131 3348 or filling out our online form and selecting ‘new housing application’.
Please be aware that not all our areas have open waiting lists to join.
We also have a list of properties online which are immediately available to rent from us. You can enquire about these directly with the local lettings team by clicking on the listing.
Choice Based Lettings schemes
Some local authorities have a choice-based letting scheme. This lets you tell your council which properties you’re interested in. We are members of many Choice Based Lettings schemes across the country and you may be eligible to apply for one of our properties through this route. Contact your local authority for more information.
If you are already a Sanctuary resident or a tenant with another social housing provider, you could consider swapping your home through mutual exchange.
Mutual exchange is often the best way to obtain the house you want in your chosen area.
To find someone to exchange your home with, register on www.homeswapper.co.uk (this link will open in a new window). This is a free online service and will help you find other residents who are also looking for a mutual exchange.
For more information, you can download our Mutual exchange leaflet (PDF 599kb) or call us on 0800 131 3348.
