2 October 2018
Watcombe Wanderers has launched its first under 14s female-only team.

A successful Torquay football club which has launched a brand new girls’ team is calling for new members this autumn.

Watcombe Wanderers

Funded by Sanctuary Housing, Watcombe Wanderers Football Club (WWFC) has launched its first under 14s female-only team, following the success of the under 13s girls’ squad last year.

Come along

Young people are invited to come along to the training sessions, which take place every Saturday morning at Long Lane, Haccombe, Newton Abbott from 9.30am until 11am.

Coaching qualifications

As well as giving local young people opportunity to develop their sporting abilities and build up important skills in teamwork and self-confidence, it is hoped the sessions will also see two adult volunteers earn coaching qualifications.

“Positive impact”

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Lynne Roberts, said: “It’s been fantastic to see the success WWFC has had so far and this new team will help us to extend the positive impact of this project to even more Bay teenagers.”
