Banbury residents benefit from a home swap event

17 June 2014

Residents from Neithrop took their first steps to finding a new home at a Sanctuary Housing event promoting the benefits of home swaps.

Potential home swappers were able to find out more about mutual exchange and the financial incentives of home swapping, five of which have arranged viewings following the event.

Sanctuary Housing staff were also on hand providing handy tips on preparing homes for viewings and what to look for in a potential home. Residents were given the opportunity to register with HomeSwapper, the UK’s largest service helping people to swap homes.

As part of Sanctuary Housing’s commitment to local residents, the housing provider was also able to help residents find out exactly how they can tackle the challenges raised by the social sector size criteria – also known as the bedroom tax.

Michelle Lewis, housing officer at Sanctuary Housing, said: “The event was a great success. It was fantastic to see our residents out in force, asking questions and receiving advice about how they could find a home that could be just around the corner.”

Mrs Boffin, Sanctuary resident, commented: “The event was really useful for me as I am interested in a home swap. It was nice to be able to talk to someone face to face about my tenancy queries and get answers to how the processes work.”

How can residents find out more about home swaps?

Sanctuary residents who were not able to attend the home swap event can still find out everything they need to know by contacting their local housing officer, calling 0800 131 3348 (or 0300 123 3511 from a mobile) or emailing contactus@sanctuary-housing.co.uk. Contacts for housing officers can be found on the local to you pages of the Sanctuary Housing website.
