Financial advice for Torbay families in the run up to Christmas

15 November 2016

Torbay residents are being offered free financial advice on how to avoid debt in the run up to Christmas.

Residents in Hele, Barton and Watcombe can also get advice on whether they are receiving enough benefits by booking appointments for sessions with financial advisors every Monday and Wednesday at the Hele’s Angels office in Hele Road, Torquay.

Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary Housing’s neighbourhood partnerships manager for Torbay, said: “The run up to Christmas is always a particularly tough time on the purse strings and can be quite stressful for families. We are supporting these useful, free sessions as they will help make residents more financially aware and hopefully put their minds at ease.”

The Financial Inclusion Project was created in 2015 with support from Sanctuary Housing to help Torbay residents access bespoke money management advice. At least 270 local residents were offered financial support from trained volunteers in its first year.

Funding for the project comes from Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, which supports projects that benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.

Anyone interested in booking an appointment for financial advice at Hele’s Angels should call the team on 01803 312808.
