The Government has written to social housing tenants to advise them on the latest measures regarding Covid-19.
In an open letter released yesterday, Housing Minister Christopher Pincher MP stated that the ‘safety, security and wellbeing of all social housing residents is a key priority’ for the Government.
It provides information on a number of subjects including maintenance and repairs, gas safety checks, building safety, dealing with anti-social behaviour and also advice for any residents looking to move home.
In addition, details about the local council tax support available is included as well as guidance on issues relating to general wellbeing and mental health, and support for victims of domestic abuse.

In common with many other social landlords, Sanctuary Housing has been operating an ‘emergency-only’ repairs service since lockdown began. We are now reviewing our processes to ensure the safety of our operatives and residents, when undertaking a repair.
While we are working quickly to respond to the latest government announcements, we will only carry out repairs when we are sure we have the right guidance, training and protective equipment in place to deliver these within the safe guidelines.
The Government has also provided advice on how mutual exchanges can proceed safely for all involved. We are currently reviewing our process to ensure we can operate exchanges safely and plan to re-start the process by the end of May.
