Little Lache Playgroup celebrates winning Lache Together Live

18 March 2016

A playgroup in Lache will help children learn about growing healthy food on a new vegetable patch after winning a local competition.

Little Lache Playgroup wins Sanctuary’s Lache Together Live competition

Little Lache Playgroup, a pre-school for children aged two to four, won the top prize of £2,500 in the Lache Together Live competition organised by Sanctuary Housing.

Groups in Lache filmed their own videos

The competition challenged local groups to create a video about how they would use the winning prize to fund a project addressing the themes of education, health and wellbeing, and the environment.

Sanctuary residents selected the Lache Together Live winner

A panel of local residents voted for the winner after watching video presentations from the nursery and other groups, including Lache Balmoral Morris Dancers and St Clare’s Catholic Primary School.

Ann Dooney, Sanctuary Housing resident involvement officer, said: “Congratulations to Little Lache Playgroup, who created an inspirational video which highlighted how they met the funding themes of education, health and wellbeing and environment. All entries were superb and the groups can use the videos for future funding applications.”

Kelly Lawrence, manager of Little Lache Playgroup, added: “This will make a massive difference to our setting. A huge thank you to our parents and staff for their support, as well as to Sanctuary Housing for giving us this opportunity.”

Barbara Owen, of Sanctuary’s Chester & District Committee, who counted the votes, said: “Little Lache Playgroup is a worthy winner, but they were all deserving. It was very close.”
