Nominate areas of Shiregreen for a spring clean

Residents are being urged to nominate public spaces and streets across Shiregreen for a litter pick to coincide with the Great British Spring Clean.

Residents are being urged to nominate public spaces and streets across Shiregreen for a spring clean.

Sanctuary Housing and Sheffield City Council are organising a litter pick in the neighbourhood on Friday 3 March and want to hear from locals on where to focus their efforts.

They are also encouraging volunteers to offer a hand in collecting litter between 10am and 3pm on the day with a free lunch and prizes offered to those taking part.

Sophie Kirk, Sanctuary Housing’s neighbourhood partnerships officer for Shiregreen, said: “This is the latest in a series of litter picks that bring the community together but this time we want to hear suggestions from residents on where to focus our efforts. This is just one of the environmental projects we support to ensure our neighbourhoods are green and clean places to live.”

The event coincides with The Great British Spring Clean campaign to bring together people from across the country to clear up litter from 3 – 5 March. Volunteers will meet outside the Sanctuary Housing office in Beck Road, Shiregreen, shortly before 10am on 3 March when they will be provided with equipment.

Sanctuary is supporting the event through its Community Investment Fund, which benefits Sanctuary residents and their communities.
