Know someone in Shiregreen who always goes the extra mile to help the community? Nominate local stars for Sanctuary Housing’s Shiregreen Community Awards 2016, celebrating the contributions local people make to the Shiregreen neighbourhood.
The six categories on offer are: the Karl Barton Award for young people aged 10-16, Young Achiever of the Year for 17-25 year olds, Good Neighbour, Outstanding Achievement, the David Blunkett Community Safety Award and the Kath Page Green Fingers Award.
Nominations can be made online at bit.ly/Shiregreen-Awards-2016 or forms are available at Sanctuary’s Shiregreen office on Beck Road.
The Rt Hon David Blunkett has generously sponsored the new category for this year, the Community Safety Award – aimed at honouring the achievements of local people who work to make their neighbourhood a safer place.
In addition, the Cutlers’ Company Charitable Trust has provided further funds for young people’s participation in the Awards.
2016 also marks the tenth anniversary of Sanctuary managing homes in Shiregreen, with the awards ceremony on 26 February 2016 commencing a year of activity celebrating the successes of the last decade. The glittering celebration will be attended by Harry Harpham, MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough.
Colleen Eccles, Sanctuary’s director of neighbourhoods, commented: “Sanctuary’s fifth annual Awards in Shiregreen will be a fantastic opportunity for us to say thank you to our partners and residents, who continue to develop new and creative ideas for Shiregreen.
“I would also like to thank our kind sponsors for their contributions.”
