Do you have a neighbour who always goes the extra mile? Or do you know a volunteer who gives up their time to help those in need? Show your appreciation by nominating them for the Shiregreen Community Awards 2019.

Organised by Sanctuary Housing, the awards programme marks the contributions of Shiregreen residents who are dedicated to supporting projects and community groups across the area.

This year, there are 10 categories in which local people can cast nominations, including Young Achiever of the Year, Health Heroes and Volunteer of the Year.

New award

In addition to the people who make Shiregreen the vibrant neighbourhood that it is, new for this year is the Community Venue of the Year award, which will see a community hub recognised for being the beating heart of the estate.

Celebratory event

Each of the winners will be invited to a celebratory afternoon tea in February 2019, where they will be presented with a certificate marking their achievement.

“Achievements of unsung heroes”

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Melanie King, said: “As always when we have previously run the Shiregreen Community Awards, we have a fantastic opportunity to recognise the achievements of unsung heroes across the neighbourhood.

“This year, with 10 categories on offer, there are even more chances for local people to be celebrated for their efforts in making Shiregreen a great place to live and work.”

Cast your nomination

Residents can cast nominations online or by visiting Sanctuary’s Beck Road office or community venues around Shiregreen to pick up a form.

A form can also be requested by calling the Shiregreen neighbourhood team on 0800 131 3341, or 0300 123 3511 from a mobile.

Nominations are open from now until Monday 14 January 2019. The Shiregreen Community Committee will judge all entries and decide the winners.

This event is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
