Residents from a retirement living scheme in Rochford are enjoying life in their transformed homes thanks to a £3.2 million refurbishment project by Sanctuary Group.

Mrs Holiday and Mrs Preston, residents at the scheme, have both praised the leading housing and care provider for the work completed at Tyndale House, which has recently seen a makeover.

Audrey Preston moved into her property in April when the redecoration was complete and commented that the move was the best thing she’s ever done.

“I feel really safe and am able to socialise with other residents or take a visit to the local shops. Alan our scheme manager is so helpful.” Audrey’s daughter Margaret added: “The move has definitely changed mum for the better. She’s back to her usual independent self.”

Joan Holiday, Tyndale resident of 16 years, was able to return to her home following completion of the works and when asked how the scheme has changed, stated it was 100% better.

“It’s my idea of heaven and I’d rather stay here than go on holiday now. It’s completely different and luxurious throughout.

“I love the wildlife on my doorstep and can sit out on my veranda for hours looking at the black birds and squirrels.”

About the refurbishment

Tyndale House, managed by Rochford Housing Association, has been open for over thirty years and was refurbished in spring of this year. The retirement living scheme offers residents their own apartments with additional features including emergency pull cord alarm systems and support from staff.

As well as brand new replacement kitchens and bathrooms, residents are able to enjoy a salon, assisted bathroom suite, communal lounge, sun room conservatories, bespoke library and scooter store.

Residents are also reaping the benefits of the new allotments, which are tended to by keen gardeners at the scheme, as they all get to share and eat lovely home grown produce.
