Over 100 Scarborough residents are boosting prospects with inspiring training and development opportunities, thanks to a helping hand from Sanctuary Housing’s Grand Ideas Fund.

Gallows Close Community Centre, based in the Barrowcliff estate, is opening its doors and supporting the local community by providing an extensive menu of employment and educational training for free.

To create the best training and support network possible, the community centre has turned to local organisations for support including Scarborough Jobmatch, community charity Groundwork North Yorkshire and housing providers Sanctuary Housing and Yorkshire Coast Homes.

Damian Kelly, development co-ordinator from Gallows Close Centre, said: “We are hugely grateful for the funding from Sanctuary Housing and the support system we have in place from all our partners. Thanks to everyone involved, we are very confident the selection of training we have in place has something for everyone.”

Wendy Banks, Sanctuary’s operations manager, added: “With our funding, Gallows Close Centre has created a valuable opportunity for all our local residents to benefit from. The extensive selection of courses available at no cost is an excellent prospect and I urge all of the local residents to go down and see what’s available on their doorstep.”

About Gallows Close Community Centre

The Centre hopes the new network will help over a hundred residents in the following two years, by enhancing work and life ambitions.

How to apply for Grand Ideas Fund
