Women’s Circle still on hand to offer support

Women's circle group still on hand to offer support in Torbay

Women across the Bay can still access a vital support service amid the current national crisis.

A Women’s Circle in Torquay – run by Imagine Torbay Multicultural Group CIC and funded by Sanctuary Housing – is offering a virtual safe space online for local females to come together and connect with their community.

The attendees can take part in a wide range of activities designed to empower each other and build confidence, including yoga, meditation and holistic therapy.

There are also discussions, debates and opportunities to learn new skills and boost employability, all in a friendly and welcoming environment.

If any of the women are in need of more intensive support, there is also the possibility for a small outdoor group to take place face-to-face, under current social distancing guidelines.

Sal Renshaw, project leader for the circles, said: “After we launched the Circle a few years ago, it was successful beyond anything I could have imagined and I’m so pleased that we are still able to offer support during a global pandemic.

“Some of our attendees have really achieved their dreams and it’s an absolute privilege to be part of the journeys of these inspirational women.”

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Lynne Roberts, commented: “The support provided is incredible and I know some of the women who attend have found the group to be a real lifeline.

“Now more than ever people can need a bit of extra support, so it’s fantastic that the Circle is still running in these tough times.”

The Women’s Circle takes place every Thursday from 1pm until 3pm. For more information about how to join, contact Sal Renshaw by calling 07818 167672 or emailing sally.renshaw1111@outlook.co.uk.

This project is funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
